How to use lip scrub to have soft and lips

If you find yourself constantly reaching for your lip balm, then maybe it is time to consider a lip scrub.
The reasons why we get dry lips are various, but can include sunburn, dehydration, excessive heat, cold weather or wind, and behavioural habits such as persistent licking or smoking.
So it is not unusual to experience dryness. But exfoliating your lips can do the work where lip balms fall short.

What is lip scrub and what does it do?

Just as body scrubs do, lip scrubs are exfoliating formulas which help remove dead skin cells.
Lip scrubs differ from body scrubs in that they are specially designed for the most vulnerable skin on your body in order to get softer and smoother lips without damaging them.
They are used as a form of mechanical exfoliation; they contain small, grainy particles that, when rubbed onto your lips, remove dead skin cells. In turn, this leaves your lips soft and smooth, as opposed to rough and chapped.
Incorporating lip scrub into your skincare routine can be extremely beneficial, if done correctly.
Not only does an exfoliating lip scrub improve the appearance of your lips, but it also helps improve the way your lips feel.
In a nutshell, a lip scrub is a must-have if you wish to have soft, smooth lips.

How to apply lip scrub

But how do you apply is exactly?
Let us have a look together at the steps to apply the product correctly.
1.    Take your scrub stick and apply it on the lips. The amount you apply depends on how rough your lips are.

2.    Spread the lip scrub evenly around your lips. Ensure that both the top lip and bottom lip have an equal coating. However, if one lip is particularly flakier than the other, it will not hurt to apply more to that one. To dot press too much your lips while doing so: the skin of your lips can break easily if too much force is used.

3.    Rub your lips together: press your lips together and rub your bottom lip against your top lip in a circular motion for about 30 second to scrape off any dead skin cells and flakes you have.

4.    Get rid of the excess lip scrub by gently rinsing it off using some lukewarm water.

5.    Dab your lips dry. The best way to do this is to use a soft towel or tissue. Make sure this is done gently and with care.

6.    Moisturise your lips by applying a hydrating lip balm or lotion in order to keep your lips smooth and soft and to reduce your risk of getting chapped lips. In fact, lip scrubs are mainly designed to exfoliate your lips, so you should then hydrate your lips with a lip balm or lotion.

7.    Repeat this process one-two times a week, unless you see that your lips are getting irritated by the whole process. This will ensure that you have smooth, plump lips every day.

How often should I use a lip scrub?

Even though using a lip scrub is a good thing, you can actually overuse them and cause more harm than good. The good rule of thumb is not to use your lip scrub more than once per week.

As you see, the process is very easy to do and can be incorporated to your beauty routine in no time, so that, while you look all pampered and fresh, you do not forget your lips, which are always in focus whenever you smile! And now you will be finally able to do so proudly!
