Parabens are some of the most widely-used preservatives in the cosmetics, pharmaceutical and food industries. This is because they are extremely effective at stabilizing products, thereby preventing the texture from deteriorating over time or becoming contaminated with use.
These particular ingredients have been studied, regulated and approved by the European Community and the FDA in the United States. This means that they have been tested numerous times to ascertain their complete safety. There are however a small number of people who are allergic to Parabens. As is the case with many allergies, it would seem that the number of these individuals is increasing. The cosmetics industry, like KIKO MILANO, is therefore working on research aimed at determining other equally as effective preservative systems to replace the Parabens currently being used, so as to further minimize the risk of allergic reactions. These studies are still ongoing.
The majority of KIKO products is currently formulated without the use of Parabens.
Where appropriate, “Paraben-free” is clearly indicated on the product packaging and in the descriptions published on the website. Given the frequent requests from Customers, KIKO is working towards removing Parabens from all of its products.
