WHAT ARE COOKIE
A cookie is a file containing an identifier (a string of letters and numbers) that is sent by a web server to a web browser and is stored by the browser. The identifier is then sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from the server.
Cookies may be either "persistent" cookies or "session" cookies: a persistent cookie will be stored by a web browser and will remain valid until its set expiry date, unless deleted by the user before the expiry date; a session cookie, on the other hand, will expire at the end of the user session, when the web browser is closed.
Cookies may be installed by the website you are visiting (first party cookie) or may be installed by other website (third parties cookie)
HOW WE USE COOKIE
1. Technical cookies
a. session/navigation: The use of so-called session cookies (which are not memorised continually on the user’s computer and disappear when he/she closes the browser) is strictly limited to the transmission of the data that identifies the session (constituted by random numbers generated by the server) which are required in order to enable the safe and efficient exploration of the website and its applications. The so-called session cookies used in the KIKO website prevent the website from having to use other IT techniques that could potentially compromise the privacy of the user’s browsing experience and do not enable any personal data that might identify the user to be acquired. They do not require your consent.
b. Persistent cookies:cookies remain on the device even after the user has left the website and until he/she cancels them or they expire. The KIKO website creates this type of cookie and memorises them on the device in such a way that enables them to be read when the user visits the website again. In this way, for example, the user’s set preferences (e.g. wish list, cart) can also be found when the user visits the website subsequently. They do not require your consent.
2. Analytics Cookies: cookies installed to collect aggregate information, mainly statistical in nature (length of time on a page, number of visitors to the site).
a. First party analytics cookies: similar to technical cookies as they are directly installed on the site that you are visiting to improve its usability. They do not require your consent.
b. Third party analytics cookies: analytic cookies created and installed by third parties to analyse the users’ browsing experience to create statistics regarding the visits or to improve the range of contents offered, show similar products and sometimes position targeted advertising in the web pages. The system used is Google Analytics. This is a web analysis service provided by Google Inc ("Google"). Google Analytics, like other systems, uses “cookies” to enable the web to analyse how users use the website. The information generated by the cookie on how the user uses the website (including the IP address) are transmitted to and deposited on the Google server in the United States. Google uses this information for the purpose of tracking and analysing the use of the website, completing reports on the activities of the website and providing other services related to the use of Internet. Google can also transfer this information to third parties where this is required by law or where said third parties process the above-mentioned information on behalf of Google. Google will not associate the user’s IP address with any other data in its possession. The user can refuse to use the cookies by selecting the appropriate setting in its browser, but this may prevent access to all the functions of the website. From the moment that the IP address is clearly evident, the use of these cookies requires your consent. By clicking on the "Continue" button on the banner or continuing to navigate on the KIKO website, the user authorises Google to process his/her personal data for the above-mentioned purposes and in the above-mentioned ways.
3. Profiling Cookies: cookies used to trace user navigation or create profile concerning his/her tastes, habits, choices, etc. These cookies can be used to transmit advertising messages in line with preferences manifested by the user during on-line navigation.
a. First party profiling cookies: used and installed by KIKO to collect information on the user's habits with the aim of offering advertising messages that are relevant to his/her interests. This means that they are also used to limit the number of times a user sees a certain advert: for KIKO this means communicating more effectively, and the user it means receiving advertising that is less invasive and more suited to his/her preferences. While a user is browsing the KIKO website, the promotional cookies confirm that he/she is consulting the promotional messages, showing him/her promotional contents that may be of interest, based on what he/she has visited previously. While the user browses other websites, these cookies also show him/her contents recently consulted on the KIKO website, for promotional purposes. The KIKO website only uses promotional cookies anonymously: the advertising is targeted but the user is not identifiable. The promotional cookies used are permanent, even if they remain on the user’s device for a limited period of time. They require your consent.
b. Third party profiling cookies: used and installed by third parties to trace the user's navigation and create profiles of his/her tastes, habits, choices, etc. These cookies are managed by third party companies such as TagMan, DoubleClick, AddThis. The KIKO website may also display social buttons/widgets, i.e. those special “buttons” depicting the social network icons (e.g. Facebook and Twitter). These “buttons” enable the users browsing the website to connect and interact directly with the social networks with one click. When a user clicks the social buttons/widgets, the social network acquires the data relative to the user’s visit to the KIKO website and launches its profiling cookies at the same time.
MANAGEMENT OF PREFERENCES FOR COOKIES
- by clicking on the "Continue" button on the banner containing brief information that appears when the user enters the site;
- by continuing navigation on the KIKO site entering another area of the site or selecting an element on the same page.
HOW TO MODIFY YOUR COOKIE SETTINGS
Most internet browsers are initially set to accept cookies automatically. This means that at any time the user can set his/her browser so that it accepts all cookies or only some of them, or refuse to accept them, disabling their use by the websites. The user can also normally set the preferences of his/her browser so that he/she is notified each time a cookie is memorised on his/her computer. At the end of each browsing session, finally, the user can cancel the cookies collected from the hard disk of his/her device. If he/she wishes to cancel the cookies installed in the cookies folder of the browser used, it must be noted that each browser has different procedures for managing the settings.
