Phototype, what it is and what's yours?

For starters, no, it is not a selfie filter :), but a method used in dermatology to classify a person's skin type according to its sensitivity to sun exposure.
It is understood from the quantity and quality of melanin present in the skin that determines the skin color and consequently, the phototype.
Once you have identified yours, you can determine how your skin will react to UV exposure, as well as what type of tan you can get.

The following characteristics will help you understand your phototype:

PHOTOTYPE 1 - SENSITIVE
CHARACTERISTICS:
Extremely light-sensitive pale complexion
HOW YOUR SKIN REACTS TO THE SUN:
Burns easily and does not  tan

PHOTOTYPE 2,3 - MEDIUM
CHARACTERISTICS:
Fair to medium complexions
HOW YOUR SKIN REACTS TO THE SUN:
Fair: burns easily, tans minimally with difficulty
Medium: burns and tans moderately

PHOTOTYPE 4,5 - RESISTANT
CHARACTERISTICS:
Olive to brown complexions
HOW YOUR SKIN REACTS TO THE SUN:
Olive: Burns minimally, tans easily
Brown: Burns minimally, tans profusely

PHOTOTYPE 6 - VERY RESISTANT
CHARACTERISTICS:
Dark complexion
HOW YOUR SKIN REACTS TO THE SUN:
Does not burn, save for rare cases.
Tans intensely even with little sun exposure.
Contrary to what one might think, persons with this phototype too must protect themselves from UV rays, using a low SPF product.
